Hi Friends-
During this time of pain, chaos, and uncertainty, I have struggled to determine how I can best be of service to others at this moment. As I’ve been asking myself about my own place lately, a question that many of you have asked me over the years came to mind: What would it look like to process grief in community, with intention, care, and honesty? I’ve had an idea in mind, and after a thorough check in on my health—talking to my doctors, my husband, and trusted friends—I’m ready to share it with you!
I’m thrilled (and a little nervous!) to invite you to the first ever Grief is Love Annual Retreat, a three-day in-person experience at the breathtaking Glynwood Estate in Cold Spring, NY this fall. Glynwood is a 225-acre regenerative farm nestled in the Hudson Valley. The estate contains three homes with private rooms and is the perfect setting for pressing pause on life and opening up to reflection and healing. This retreat is for anyone carrying grief, whether from the loss of a loved one, a pregnancy, a relationship, or even the life you imagined for yourself. It’s for people who are doing their best to live, love, and find moments of joy, even when the pain still lingers.
Over the course of the retreat, we’ll dive into the work behind Grief is Love, explore research-based tools for healing, and create space for laughter, rest, and reflection—together.
You can expect:
Compassionately facilitated group conversations
Strategies to navigate challenging emotions like guilt and anger
Joy-centered practices rooted in research
Space to intentionally process and honor your loss
Ideas for how to best integrate your loss into your life
No one else can do the work of healing for us, but we can support one another as we all learn to live with loss. I want our time together to feel like a giant hug, and I want you to leave feeling fully capable of handling grief and its impact on your day-to-day life. To that end, three of the women who have supported me in my loss will be joining us as practitioners as well!
Dr. Lizzie Cleary is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in oncology, grief, and helping people find meaning in life’s most challenging experiences. She also happens to be one of my college roommates and a dear friend.
Erika Forsell, L.Ac. is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist with over 20 years of experience in East Asian medicine. Added bonus, she is my acupuncturist so you know she is amazing!
Krishan Trotman is the co-author of the Queens of the Resistance series and Vice President, Publisher of Legacy Lit, an imprint at Hachette Book Group in New York that she founded. She is also my editor!
If you are eager to find a way to truly live well in the midst of loss, I hope you will consider joining us!
